It had been hours since Iâd left Chiara alone in her room, and I desperately wanted to seek her out and ask if sheâd made a decision about living with me yet. But I knew she had to come to me. It had to be her choice; I couldnât push it.
Still, I found myself walking down the hallway to her room. I wouldnât push, Iâd just see if she was settling in okay.
I gently knocked on the bedroom door, but when there was no reply, I pushed the door open.
âChiara?â I called out softly. She didnât answer, so I stepped further into the room to see it was empty.
A quick scan of the room told me she had spent some time here. The door to the walk-in closet was opened and the bed covers were rumpled, as though sheâd been laying down on them.
Figuring sheâd gone to explore the rest of the houseâI had never said she couldnâtâI headed to the elevator to find her.
In the kitchen, June and the cook, Nicholas, sat at the breakfast bar, enjoying a cup of coffee.
âEverything okay, Luca?â June asked as I stepped into the room and looked around.
âYeah, I was just wondering if either of you have seen Chiara. She wasnât in her room,â I said, trying to make my voice sound casual.
Nicholas smiled. âMiss Fiore is upstairs on the deck. She told me you said she could pick dinner and dessert, so she requested caprese chicken followed by tiramisu.â
âThatâs perfect. Thank you, Nicholas,â I said to the cook, another of Salâs suggestions, as I walked back to the elevator.
I rode up to the deck, expecting to find Chiara relaxing on a sun lounger, but instead, she was in the pool again.
My pulse quickened at the sight of her scantily clad body beaded in droplets of water. I still had my swim shorts on underneath my clothing, and my dick twitched to be free. Before I could talk myself out of it, I was shedding my clothes and stepping into the water.
At the sound of my splashes, Chiara turned around, her eyes wide. âSorry. I thought I was alone.â
âItâs fine,â I assured her. âIf you do choose to live with me, this will be your home, too, and you can move about it as you please.â
Chiara smiled, and the warmth in her brown eyes spurred me on.
âI want you to be happy here,â I said, moving in closer. Without thinking, my hands came to rest on her waist, and I was relieved that Chiara didnât stop me.
Instead, she sucked in a breath, and said, âI think I could be happy here. With you.â
Lust clouded my mind, and I gave in to the instincts Iâd been fighting since the moment Chiara first removed her T-shirt earlier in the day. I trailed my hands up her body until they were cupping her face, and then crushed my lips to hers.
Chiara melted into the kiss, as though she too had been waiting for this very moment, and her submission only increased my lust.
